Test Sessions
One way we support the Amateur Radio community is by conducting ARRL License Test Sessions. We will be conducting Tests after our August club meeting.
Register for a session on the Ham.Study site which is also a great site to use in preparing for the exam.
Registration link for August 2025 testing session. Make sure all testing have their FCC FRN number and an Exam.Tools user account.
Club Project - Tape Measure Antenna Build
After the June 2025 club meeting, the club had a project day and built six tape measure yagi antennas. It was a fun and product activity. Blog post here for full details.

Upcoming WKDXA DX Workshop – October 4tH
Logan County Club offering Training
We’re excited to share details about the Western Kentucky DX Association (WKDXA) DX Workshop, coming up on Saturday, October 4th at the Bob Kirby Library in Bowling Green, KY. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in DXing, from beginners to seasoned operators!
Event Details:
- Date: Saturday, October 4th
- Time: Check-in at 9:00 AM, sessions run 9:30 AM – 4:00 Pm
- Location: Bob Kirby Library, Bowling Green, KY (behind Culver’s/Sonic)
- Cost: $15 (includes free lunch and drinks)
- Registration: Online (credit card) or in person (cash accepted)
What’s Included:
- Four sessions: DX basics, advanced DX, propagation (with a QST columnist), and an open Q&A
- Top-notch instructors, including experienced DXpeditioners and club leaders from Louisville and Cincinnati
- Free lunch, drinks, and a swag bag for the first 40 registrants

The SCARS club has acquired a local DMR repeater
The club along with Thomas Peavy (KentuckyDMR.com) has set up of a digital repeater for DMR in the Franklin Ky area.
The club recognizes digital communications as a great alternative to analog voice and enjoy the benefits of digital when coupled with Internet technology. This repeater will be a great tool for the local community. It will open Franklin and Simpson county Kentucky to the world.
The repeater site also hosts an APRS iGate and digipeater. It also has a bulletin with details of the DMR repeater.
Note: This repeater is currently not functional. Thomas is aware and will address the issue shortly.
